The New York Yankees announced on Wednesday that they have signed free agent catcher Kelly Stinnett to a one-year contract.
The 35-year-old journeyman has played 12 seasons and owns a career .239 average with 63 home runs and 216 RBI in 667 games. Last season with the Arizona Diamondbacks, he batted .248 with six homers and 12 RBI in 59 games.
Stinnett was originally selected by Cleveland in the 11th round of the 1989 draft, but started his career with the New York Mets in 1994. He has since played for Milwaukee, Arizona, Cincinnati, Philadelphia, and Kansas City.
