Wallace, Duncan headline All-Defensive Team

Detroit Pistons center Ben Wallace, the National Basketball Association's 2004-05 Defensive Player of the Year, led all vote-getters as the league released its All-Defensive Teams on Thursday. San Antonio Spurs forward Tim Duncan received All-Defensive honors for the eighth consecutive season and joined Wallace on the First Team squad, along with Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Garnett, San Antonio guard Bruce Bowen and Washington Wizards guard Larry Hughes. Wallace, who earned the NBA's top defensive player award for the third time last week, received 23 first-team votes and 51 total points, three more than both Garnett and Bowen. Garnett has been named to the top squad in each of the last six seasons, while Bowen garnered first-team laurels for the second straight year. The All-Defensive Second Team unit consists of two Detroit Pistons -- forward Tayshaun Prince and guard Chauncey Billups -- Denver Nuggets center Marcus Camby, Utah Jazz forward Andrei Kirilenko, New Jersey Nets guard Jason Kidd and Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade. The voting panel consisted of the league's 29 head coaches, who were asked to pick NBA All-Defensive First and Second Teams by position. The coaches were not permitted to vote for players from their own club.
