The San Diego Chargers signed Jamal Williams to a five-year contract extension Thursday, taking the defensive tackle through the 2010 season.
Williams was part of a defensive line that ranked third in rush defense, allowing 81.7 rushing yards per game last season. He was voted an alternate for the 2004 Pro Bowl, recording 32 tackles and four sacks.
Williams originally joined the Chargers as a second-round pick in the 1998 NFL Supplemental Draft out of Oklahoma State. He was an All-Big 12 Conference selection who made himself eligible for the draft following his junior season.
