It is a short off-season for NASCAR Nextel Cup drivers and crews. The 2005 season ended in late November and the teams have been working back at the shop since then.
Almost half of the full-time teams will take to the track at NASCAR's first Daytona International Speedway test session on January 9-11.
The session is scheduled to include Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson and Ryan Newman among 18 teams.
NASCAR's second Daytona test session is set for January 16-18 when even- numbered finishers (final standings) are to test. That group will include Greg Biffle, Carl Edwards, Kurt Busch, Kyle Busch, Casey Mears and Jamie McMurray.
The teams will also test at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway at the end of January.
