Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Kevin Millwood has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right groin.
Millwood was forced to leave Wednesday's game against Minnesota with the strain. The 30-year-old suffered the injury in the fifth inning while pitching to Mike Redmond. After yielding a single to the Twins catcher on a 3-2 pitch, he bent over in obvious discomfort and was replaced by Rafael Betancourt. He was charged with one run on five hits in 4 2/3 innings.
Millwood, who signed a one-year contract with the Indians in January, is 1-4 with a 3.20 ERA this season.
In a corresponding move, the Indians recalled lefthanded pitcher Brian Tallet from Triple-A Buffalo. The 27-year-old Tallet hasn't pitched in the majors since the 2003 season.
