The New York Yankees have reportedly signed injured reliever Octavio Dotel to a one-year contract on Tuesday according to Newsday.com.
Dotel suffered from a torn ligament last season and had reconstructive surgery to repair the ailment.
The Dominican Republic native pitched in 15 games in 2005 with the Oakland A's and went 1-2 with a 3.52 ERA and seven saves before being shut down on May 20.
Dotel is 37-31 with a 3.63 ERA, 71 saves and 725 strikeouts in 600 1/3 innings pitched throughout eight years with the Mets, Astros and A's.
He joins a revamped bullpen with the Yankees, who have added Kyle Farnsworth, Mike Myers, and Ron Villone to bridge the gap to Mariano Rivera.
