Cincinnati Reds infielder D'Angelo Jimenez accepted an assignment to Double-A Chattanooga on Thursday, one week after the club designated him for assignment.
Jimenez hit .229 with five RBI in 35 games for the Reds this season. He was originally signed by the New York Yankees as an amateur free agent in 1994 and made his major league debut in the Bronx in 1999.
He played in just seven games for the Yankees before being traded to the San Diego Padres for pitcher Jay Witasick in 2001.
