The Toronto Blue Jays signed pitcher Ben Weber to a minor league deal that includes an invitation to attend spring training.
The contract marks Weber's return to Toronto where he was originally drafted by the Blue Jays in the 20th round of the 1991 Draft.
The 36-year-old Weber pitched for the Cincinnati Reds last season, posting a 0-0 record with an 8.03 ERA in 10 relief appearances. The 6-foot-4, 205- pounder spent the bulk of the season on the disabled list suffering from a bulging disc in his neck. He managed appearances in just 18 minor league games for Reds affiliates, where he notched a 1-2 record with a 3.32 ERA.
Weber's career includes stints with the San Francisco Giants (2000), Los Angeles Angels (2000-2004) and Cincinnati Reds (2005), compiling a 19-8 career record with a 3.77 ERA.
