The Boston Red Sox signed infielder Tony Graffanino to a one-year contract on Wednesday.
Terms were not disclosed.
The 33-year-old Graffanino posted a .319 batting average with four homers and 20 RBI in 51 games for Boston in 2005 after being acquired from Kansas City on July 19. Overall, the infielder batted .309 with seven home runs and 38 runs batted in over 110 games.
The 10-year veteran has hit .268 with 42 homers and 213 RBI in 759 games for the Atlanta Braves, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Chicago White Sox, Royals and Red Sox.
