Toronto Raptors forward Chris Bosh and New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets guard Chris Paul were named the NBA's Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for the period ending February 5th.
Bosh led the Eastern Conference in scoring for the week while leading the Raptors to a 2-1 record. The 21-year-old averaged 30.3 points on .534 shooting from the field and .853 from the free throw line, along with 12 rebounds and four assists. Bosh scored 30 or more points for the first time at the Air Canada Centre, tallying 33 points on 14-of-19 shooting in a 117-112 victory over Washington.
In an overtime loss to the LA Clippers, Bosh recorded a career-high six assists to go along with 29 points and 16 rebounds.
Paul spurred the Hornets to 3-0 mark for the week, averaging 20.0 points, an NBA-high 11.7 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 2.33 steals. The 20-year-old led the way in 100-95 victory over Chicago February 1, scoring 11 of the team's final 16 points.
Paul is the first rookie to win the Player of the Week award since Dwayne Wade won it during the 2003-04 season.
Other nominees for the weekly awards included Atlanta's Joe Johnson, Dallas' Josh Howard, Detroit's Richard Hamilton, Los Angeles Clippers' Elton Brand, New Jersey's Vince Carter, Phoenix's Shawn Marion and Washington's Antawn Jamison.
