Manny Ramirez and the Boston Red Sox have reached an agreement that allows the leftfielder to report to spring training on March 1.
The Red Sox will hold their first full-squad workout on Thursday, February 23, but by rules of the collective bargaining agreement, Ramirez and Boston reached a compromise on when he has to report.
Further complicating matters is the uncertainty surrounding Ramirez and the World Baseball Classic.
If Ramirez decides to play for the Dominican Republic, he will have been with the Red Sox just two days prior to leaving for Orlando to begin training with the Dominican team.
Ramirez had requested a trade after last season but Boston has been unable to complete a satisfactory deal, meaning Ramirez will most likely be manning left field at Fenway Park on Opening Day.
