The Oakland Athletics placed designated hitter Erubiel Durazo on the 15-day disabled list on Friday with tendinitis in his left elbow. The move is retroactive to May 25.
Durazo, who has been struggling this season, was hitting just .200 (11-for-55) with two RBI over his last 14 games before going on the DL. The veteran slugger has hit just four homers this season and has gone 14 games without a home run -- a span of 56 at-bats.
The injury bug continues to plague the reeling A's, who have seen seven players go on the DL this season.
In a related move, Oakland recalled first baseman Dan Johnson from Triple-A Sacramento. Johnson has been tearing up the Pacific Coast League to the tune of a .324 average with eight homers, while driving in 41 runs in 47 games.
