The LA Angels of Anaheim activated starting pitcher Kelvim Escobar from the 15-day disabled list following Friday night's extra-inning win over Kansas City.
Escobar, who had been sidelined with a bone spur in his right elbow, is expected to start Saturday's game.
The 29-year-old Escobar, who began the season on the disabled list with a sprained right elbow, is 1-2 with a 3.91 ERA and 28 strikeouts in four starts this season.
Lifetime, Escobar is 70-69 with a 4.44 ERA in 338 games (138 starts). Prior to signing with the Angels in November of 2003, he spent seven seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays.
In a related move, the Angels optioned right-handed pitcher Ervin Santana to Triple-A Salt Lake.
Santana, who is 1-1 on the year, is coming off a five-hit shutout this past Monday to earn his first career major league win. In the 4-0 triumph over the White Sox, Santana allowed just five hits while striking out seven.
