The Florida Marlins activated closer Guillermo Mota from the 15-day disabled list Friday.
Mota had been sidelined since April 24 with elbow inflammation. The righthander appeared in two rehab games with Single-A Jupiter, allowing one unearned run on three hits with four strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings.
Mota is 0-1 with a 1.86 ERA and two saves in 9 2/3 innings this season.
To make room on the roster, the Marlins optioned pitcher Yorman Bazardo to Double-A Carolina on the Southern League. Bazardo was called up on Thursday and was hammered for five runs -- four earned -- on five hits in 1 2/3 innings in his major league debut.
Florida lost the opener of a four-game set to the New York Mets, 12-4, on Thursday.
