Jags agree to terms with LB Wayne

The Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday agreed to terms with veteran linebacker Nate Wayne. Wayne played the last two seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, but was riddled with injuries in 2004. Wayne posted 38 tackles, one sack and two forced fumbles last season in nine games. "He's an outstanding person. He's played on a winning team and went to the Super Bowl, so here's a guy who knows what it takes to go all the way," said Jags' pro personnel director Charlie Bailey. Wayne opened the 2004-05 season as the Eagles' starting weakside linebacker before losing his job when Philadelphia shuffled its linebacking corps midway through the campaign. Signed by the Eagles as a free agent in 2003, the Mississippi product collected 173 tackles, four sacks and an interception in two years in Philadelphia. In a seven-year career that also featured stops in Denver and Green Bay, Wayne has recorded 435 tackles, 16 sacks and seven interceptions.
