The Oakland Athletics activated reigning American League Rookie of the Year Bobby Crosby from the 15-day disabled list on Monday prior to their 5-4, 11 inning win over the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
Crosby, who had been shelved Since Opening Day with a stress fracture located in his ribs, started and finished 1-for-5.
The 25-year-old shortstop earned the AL's top rookie award last year after batting .239 with 22 home runs and 64 RBI in 151 games.
Crosby, who was just 1-for-12 in a three game rehabilitation assignment with Triple-A Sacramento, could not return at a better time for the A's, who snapped an eight-game losing streak with the win tonight.
The Athletics also optioned struggling infielder Keith Ginter to Sacramento. Ginter has appeared in 26 games for Oakland this season and was hitting a paltry .169.
