Dusan Bajevic resigned on Wednesday as head coach of Olympiacos, just one week after leading the squad to a league and a cup double in Greece.
Bajevic took over for Olympiacos in July 2004, his second stint as leader of the club. In his first tour of duty with the team, he led Olympiacos to three straight league championships.
Despite another successful domestic campaign, there were many rumors that the team's front office was unsure about the coach's future. Olympiacos could not get past the Champions League group stage and then were bounced out of the UEFA Cup in the Round of 16.
Bajevic stated that he made the decision in order to make things easier on the entire organization.
