The Milwaukee Brewers made a long awaited move on Monday, purchasing the contract of slugger Prince Fielder from Triple-A Nashville.
Fielder, 21, served as the designated hitter in Monday's 5-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and finished 0-for-4.
Fielder, the seventh overall pick in the 2002 first-year player draft and son of former major leaguer Cecil Fielder, was hitting .366 with 15 home runs and 47 RBI in 64 games with Nashville.
In just three minor league seasons, Fielder hammered 78 homers and drove in 288 runs. The left-handed hitting and right-handed throwing first baseman didn't even spend a full season at Triple-A before being called up.
To make room for Fielder, the Brewers outrighted catcher Julio Mosquera to Nashville.
