Florida Marlins righthander Josh Beckett will likely miss at least one start because of a blister on his right middle finger.
Beckett left Tuesday's game against Chicago because of the problem and is expected to skip his next scheduled start on Sunday against the Angels. He could be headed to the disabled list.
The 25-year-old righthander has had blister issues throughout his career and the latest forced him out in the sixth inning of Tuesday's 14-0 loss to the Cubs. He was tagged for four runs on six hits in 5 1/3 innings of the setback, dropping his record to 7-5 with a 3.35 earned run average for the season.
Veteran lefthander Al Leiter could take Beckett's next turn in the rotation on Sunday. Leiter, just 2-6 with a 6.75 ERA, was demoted to the bullpen recently, in part because of his performance and since the team has off-days Thursday and next Monday.
