The Atlanta Braves placed starting pitcher Tim Hudson on the 15-day disabled list Thursday with a strained left oblique.
Hudson has been plagued by the injury since June 8, when he was forced to leave his start against the Angels after four innings because of muscle cramps. He then pitched against Texas on Monday and suffered the loss after surrendering five runs on five hits and five walks in just 2 2/3 innings.
The 29-year-old Hudson, who was acquired from Oakland in December, also had his 2004 campaign interrupted because of the oblique problem.
In 14 starts this season, Hudson has compiled a 6-5 record with a 3.78 ERA. He joins Atlanta starters Mike Hampton (forearm) and John Thomson (hand) on the disabled list.
Jim Brower, who was signed by the Braves on Wednesday, is expected to take Hudson's spot on the 25-man roster.
