The San Francisco Giants placed righthander LaTroy Hawkins on the 15-day disabled list Friday with right ulnar neuritis. The move is retroactive to June 10.
Hawkins last pitched on June 9 against Kansas City and surrendered two runs on three hits in 1 2/3 innings. The Giants held on for a 9-7 victory.
The 32-year-old Hawkins was acquired by San Francisco from the Chicago Cubs on May 28 in exchange for righthanders Jerome Williams and David Aardsma.
Hawkins has appeared in a combined 26 games for the Cubs and Giants this season and is 1-5 with a 5.48 ERA and four saves.
Meanwhile, San Francisco purchased the contract of right-handed pitcher Brandon Puffer from Triple-A Fresno.
