The St. Louis Cardinals activated third baseman Scott Rolen from the 15-day disabled list prior to Saturday's win against Tampa Bay.
Rolen, who had been on the DL since May 11 with a sprained left shoulder, finished 1-for-4 with a run and two strikeouts in a 5-2 triumph.
A three-time All-Star, Rolen initially suffered the injury during the fifth inning of a May 10 loss to Los Angeles, when he collided with Dodgers first baseman Hee Seop Choi while running out a grounder to the pitcher.
The injury, though, is unrelated to the separation he suffered during the 2004 playoffs, as it occurred in a different joint of the shoulder.
Rolen is a six-time Gold Glove winner. In other news, the Cardinals optioned outfielder Skip Schumaker to Triple-A Memphis.
