The Washington Nationals placed relief pitcher T.J. Tucker on the disabled list Saturday with a hyperextended right elbow.
Tucker, 26, was pulled in the eighth inning because of the problem on Friday night and is 1-0 with a 6.39 earned run average this season.
In a related move, the Nationals recalled pitcher Travis Hughes from Triple-A New Orleans. Hughes was claimed by Washington after being released by the Texas Rangers in April. His only major league experience -- two relief appearances -- came with Texas last September.
Hughes was 2-4 with a 2.57 ERA and six saves for New Orleans.
