The LA Angels of Anaheim recalled infielder Maicer Izturis from Triple-A Salt Lake.
Izturis, who had been on the disabled list retroactive to April 26 with a sprained medial collateral ligament of the left knee, is only 4-for-20 (.200) with two triples and five runs scored this season.
For his career, Izturis has a lifetime average of .205 with one home run and four RBI in 46 games.
He was acquired by the Angels along with outfielder Juan Rivera from the Washington Nationals in exchange for Jose Guillen this past winter.
In other news, the Angels optioned third baseman Robb Quinlan to Salt Lake.
