Washington Nationals righthander Esteban Loaiza missed his scheduled start against the Texas Rangers on Sunday due to soreness in his neck and back.
Loaiza first experienced pain in his outing against the Angels on Monday, in which the 33-year-old was tagged for five runs and nine hits in three-plus innings and suffered the loss.
Sun-Woo Kim took Loaiza's place against the Rangers and allowed one run on three hits while striking out five over 4 2/3 innings in Washington's 8-2 victory. However, the Korean righthander was forced from the contest due to a cramp in his right forearm.
For the year Loaiza, who was signed by the Nationals as a free agent during the offseason, is 2-5 with a 3.87 ERA in 14 starts.
