Kyle McCulloch tossed seven shutout innings and David Maroul had a two-run double to lead Texas over top-seeded Tulane, 5-0, in the College World Series from Rosenblatt Stadium.
McCulloch (11-4) scattered six hits, walked three and stuck out seven for the Longhorns, who will next play on Wednesday when they will face the winner of the Baylor/Tulane elimination game. J. Brent Cox struck out three in the final two innings to complete the shutout, which was just the sixth in CWS since 1994.
Will Crouch had three hits and an RBI while Taylor Teagarden and Seth Johnston each drove in a run for Texas (53-16), which still has yet to lose a game in the World Series.
Brian Bogusevic (13-3) was saddled with the loss for the Green Wave. In seven innings, he was touched for five runs -- four earned -- on 11 hits and one walk. Bogusevic fanned six in the losing effort.
Texas wasted little time jumping in front, plating two runs in the first inning. Nick Peoples reached base on Tommy Manzella's throwing error before he scored moments later on Johnston's single. Crouch then smacked a base hit to put two men on for Teagarden who delivered with a base knock to left, staking the Longhorns to a 2-0 lead.
Maroul made it a four-run game with his double in the fifth and Crouch accounted for the final margin on his RBI single in the sixth.
Tulane (55-11), meanwhile, could not muster up a rally, advancing just two runners to second base after the first inning. Nathan Southard went 0-for-5 and saw his 21-game hitting streak halted.
Earlier in the day, pinch-hitter Mike Pankratz's two-out single in the top of the 10th inning brought home the eventual game-winning run as Baylor rallied for a 4-3 victory over Oregon State in an elimination game of the College World Series.
Pankratz's hit gave the fourth-seeded Bears (45-25) their first-ever World Series victory and propels Baylor into a Tuesday matchup against top-seeded Tulane.
The loss ends the season for eighth-seeded Beavers (46-12), who were playing in Omaha for the first time since 1952.
Josh Ford led off the 10th with a single against Kevin Gunderson and moved up a base on Zach Dillon's sacrifice. Reid Brees then delivered a base hit to put runners on the corners and Pankratz blooped a pitch into short right field to send home Ford with the go-ahead tally.
Brees, the younger brother of San Diego Chargers quarterback Drew Brees, finished 3-for-5 on the afternoon.
Jeff Mandel (4-0) pitched 4 2/3 scoreless innings of relief to record the victory, while Gunderson (6-3) allowed just one run over 4 1/3 frames despite taking the loss.
The Beavers took advantage of four walks from Baylor starter in the second inning to build an early 2-0 lead. The Bears tied it in the fourth on back-to- back RBI singles by Chase Gerdes and Michael Griffin.
Brees doubled in the top of the fifth and crossed the plate on Kevin Russo's single to give Baylor a 3-2 edge. Oregon State then pulled even in the bottom of the inning on a run-scoring base hit by Shea McFeely.
