The Oakland Athletics activated pitcher Rich Harden from the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday and he recorded a victory in the A's 4-2 triumph over the Seattle Mariners in the second contest of their four-game series. The right-handed Harden, who was placed on the DL on May 14 with a strained left oblique muscle, allowed one run on two hits over five innings of work with three strikeouts and one walk. In his last start on May 13, Harden allowed five runs on four hits in 3 1/3 innings in a 9-4 loss to the New York Yankees. At the time of his injury, Harden owned a slim 2.80 earned run average with a 2-3 record in seven starts. To make room on the roster for Harden, the A's optioned pitcher Jairo Garcia to Triple-A Sacramento. Garcia saw just one inning of action this season.
