Finley placed on DL with shoulder injury

The LA Angels of Anaheim placed outfielder Steve Finley on the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday with a strained right shoulder. The 40-year-old Finley, who suffered the injury way back in the second game of the season, is hitting just .225 with eight homers and 39 RBI in 65 games this year. It is Finley's sixth trip to the DL in his 17-year career, but his first since 1997. A five-time Gold Glove winner and two-time All-Star, Finley began his career with Baltimore in 1989. He's also played for Houston, San Diego, Arizona and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Finley, who is a lifetime .274 hitter, was a member of Arizona's World Series championship team in 2001 and also reached the Fall Classic with San Diego in 1998. In a related move, the Angels activated outfielder Curtis Pride from the 15- day DL. Pride, who had been sidelined with a strained right wrist, was 1-for-5 in three games for the Angels before being placed on the DL.
