The Detroit Lions solidified their secondary on Wednesday, inking veteran cornerback R.W. McQuarters to a one-year deal.
The signing reunites McQuarters with Lions head coach Steve Mariucci. McQuarters, a first-round pick of San Francisco in 1998, played his first two seasons in the league under then 49ers coach Mariucci. He was later shipped to Chicago in June of 2000.
In 16 games with the Bears last season, McQuarters posted 80 tackles and two interceptions, bringing one back for a touchdown. A versatile player, McQuarters can play safety and can also return kicks.
The Oklahoma State has played in 99 career games with the 49ers and Bears and has posted 379 tackles and nine interceptions.
