New Jersey Nets center Jason Collins underwent successful arthroscopic right knee surgery.
The procedure, which was performed by Dr. Richard Ferkel, removed torn cartilage in Collins' knee. Collins is now expected to undergo up to 10 weeks of rehabilitation, but is likely to be ready for the start of October's training camp.
Collins averaged 6.4 points and 6.1 rebounds with New Jersey last season. The 7-0 Collins, who went to Stanford, has spent his entire four-year NBA career in East Rutherford and has posted 5.6 points and 4.9 boards in 316 games.
