Major League Baseball has announced its umpiring crew for the 2005 All-Star Game and Joe West will work behind the plate and serve as the crew chief.
West, who is in his 28th major league season, worked the 1987 All-Star Game. He will be joined by Tim Welke at first base, Eric Cooper at second base, Mike DiMuro at third base, CB Bucknor in left field and Andy Fletcher in right field.
Welke was part of the crew at the 1990 Midsummer Classic, while Cooper, DiMuro, Bucknor and Fletcher will be making their All-Star Game debuts.
Meanwhile, the official scorers will be Chuck Klonke, a veteran scorer of Detroit Tigers games; Fort Worth Star Telegram writer and president of the Baseball Writers Association of America T.R. Sullivan; and Detroit News writer Tom Gage.
The 76th All-Star Game will take place on Tuesday, July 12 at Comerica Park.
