The Washington Redskins have signed cornerback Artrell Hawkins. The 28-year-old Hawkins started four games for the Carolina Panthers last season and recorded 36 tackles with one interception and three forced fumbles. However, Hawkins became a salary cap casualty of the Panthers in early March. Drafted in the second round by the Bengals in 1998, Hawkins had played his entire career in the Queen City prior to signing with Carolina as a free agent before the start of the 2004 campaign. Over the course of his career, Hawkins has totaled 10 interceptions, 12 forced fumbles and three sacks over 102 games, including 76 starts.
