The Detroit Tigers activated shortstop Carlos Guillen from the 15-day disabled list prior to Sunday afternoon's game versus the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Guillen was shelved on June 14 because of a pulled hamstring. In 45 games this season, he is hitting .355 with two homers and 16 runs batted in. Guillen, 29, is expected to play on Sunday.
The Tigers optioned the contract of shortstop Tony Giarratano to Double-A Erie to make room for Guillen on the roster.
