The New York Knicks announced Thursday that they have picked up the option on forward Mike Sweetney for the 2006-07 season. Sweetney, 6-8, 270-pounds, finished his second season with the Knicks last year and averaged 8.4 points and 5.4 rebounds in 77 games. He has averaged 7.0 points and 4.8 rebounds in 119 career games. The 22-year-old former Georgetown standout was drafted by the Knicks as the ninth overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft.
