Tampa Bay Devil Rays pitcher Dewon Brazelton was placed on the restricted list Monday by Major League Baseball for failing to report to the team's minor league affiliate in Durham, North Carolina.
The struggling Brazelton was demoted to the Triple-A club last week, but did not report to the Bulls within the allotted three-day period. He was also suspended five games and fined an undisclosed amount last month for his actions during a bench-clearing altercation versus Boston on April 24.
Brazelton, who owns a 1-7 mark and a 6.43 earned run average this season, has lost four straight starts and was slated to pitch Tuesday at Detroit. He has never won a game on the road in his major league career, going 0-14 with an 8.04 ERA in 18 career starts, including an 0-3 mark in 2005.
The 24-year-old righthander has walked 29 batters and struck out 25 in 42 innings in his eight starts this season.
