The San Francisco Giants activated pitcher LaTroy Hawkins off the 15-day disabled list prior to Monday's game against Cincinnati.
The reliever pitched one-third an inning against the Reds, giving up a walk and an RBI double to Jason LaRue in the Giants' 11-10 loss.
Hawkins, who had been sidelined since early June due to right ulnar neuritis, is 1-5 with a 5.79 ERA in a combined 27 games with the Giants and the Cubs.
The right-handed reliever was acquired by San Francisco from the Chicago Cubs on May 28 in exchange for pitchers Jerome Williams and David Aardsma.
In a related move, San Francisco optioned outfielder Todd Linden to Triple-A Fresno following Sunday's 9-6 loss to the San Diego Padres.
