Miami Dolphins cornerback Will Poole underwent successful surgery Monday to repair the medial meniscus and reconstruct the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. Poole sustained the injury earlier this month and is expected to miss the entire 2005 season.
The second-year player was hurt during practice on May 4.
Poole, a fourth-round pick of Miami in 2004, appeared in 15 games for the Dolphins last season and recorded 37 tackles with one sack. The 23-year-old Southern California product was expected to start at left cornerback this year following Patrick Surtain's trade to Kansas City.
To help fill the void, the Dolphins are reportedly interested in free agent veteran Ty Law. Law is recovering from a foot injury that cost him the final nine games of last season with the New England Patriots and knocked him out of the playoffs.
The 31-year-old Law had a screw placed in the foot following the season and is expected to be able to work out for teams in June.
