The Golden State Warriors signed first-round draft pick Ike Diogu on Thursday. Terms of the deal were not released by the team.
Diogu, an early-entry candidate from Arizona State, was selected by the Warriors with the ninth overall pick in last week's draft. He was named Pac-10 Player of the Year last season as a junior after leading the conference with averages of 22.6 points, 9.8 rebounds and 2.34 blocked shots.
The 21-year-old's stellar season also garnered him consensus Second Team All- America honors -- the first basketball player in ASU history to be so honored.
Diogu also led the Pac-10 in scoring as a sophomore, making him the first player to pace the conference in scoring in consecutive years since Oregon's Stan Love did it from 1969-71.
As a 6-foot-8 forward with the Sun Devils, Diogu scored in double figures in all 91 games of his collegiate career. He is considered a solid rebounder and free-throw shooter, with improvement needed at the defensive end.
