If Minnesota Wild coach Mike Yeo is looking to teach his team something about effort, he could use Henrik Sedin as an example. Henrik and Daniel Sedin both scored against Minnesota for the first time in their careers to lead the Vancouver Canucks to a 5-2 win over the fading Wild on Thursday night. Henrik Sedin played through a sore foot that bothered him throughout warmups, extending his...

Devils' 5-game win streak ends in SO (AP) -

The Blues won 4-3 in a shootout, snapping the Devils' five-game winning streak.

Brian Elliott was perfect in long relief as the St. Louis Blues pulled out another victory against an Eastern Conference team. T.J. Oshie scored the only goal in the shootout and Brian Elliott stopped every shot he faced as the St. Louis Blues beat New Jersey 4-3 on Thursday night to end the Devils' five-game winning streak.

Brad Richards and Brian Boyle showed the mental toughness the New York Rangers have been cultivating all season. PHILADELPHIA, PA - FEBRUARY 09: Goalie Sergei Bobrovsky #35 of the Philadelphia Flyers looks for the rebound on a save as Clarke MacArthur #16 of the Toronto Maple Leafs skates in on him and Flyers' Matt Carle #25 helps out in the third period of an NHL hockey game at Wells Fargo Center on February 9, 2012 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Frustrated by not converting ample scoring chances just two nights earlier, the Philadelphia Flyers' top line cashed in when it needed. Claude Giroux and Brayden Schenn scored 1:14 apart in the second period to lift the Flyers to a 4-3 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday night. Scott Hartnell and Max Talbot also had goals for Philadelphia, which snapped a three-game losing streak.

Jets rally late, get past Capitals in SO (AP) -

Washington Capitals left wing Alexander Semin (28) tries to keep the puck away from Winnipeg Jets defenseman Dustin Byfuglien (33) during the first period of an NHL hockey game in Washington, on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012. The Jets won 3-2 in a shootout.

Someone got sent to the penalty box for playing with a broken stick, and someone else scored a goal from center ice. Unusual moments like that can produce crazy results, and that's exactly what happened when the Winnipeg Jets -- a team with seemingly no offense to speak of -- mounted a two-goal comeback in the final 135 seconds of regulation, then prevailed in the shootout for a 3-2 win over...

Benn's 2 goals lift Stars past Jackets (AP) -

There are no pushovers at this point in an NHL season -- even with a three-goal lead on the road. Jamie Benn scored twice and Kari Lehtonen had 26 saves to make an early lead stand up in the Dallas Stars' 4-2 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday night. But it was a struggle for a team in the middle of the playoff race against another club headed nowhere.

The Montreal Canadiens have had few reasons to celebrate this season as they have been mired near the basement of the Eastern Conference. Scott Gomez, who hadn't scored in more than a year, has had even fewer moments to savor. The team and the star forward both had a night to enjoy. Max Pacioretty's first NHL hat trick and Gomez's first goal since last Feb.
